Rose Marie Blue's Obituary
Our loving Rose Marie Blue, born one of eleven siblings to the union of Mrs. Etta Armstrong and Eddie Lee Gaston on September 12, 1935 in Calhoun City, Mississippi. Rose affectionately known as "Rosie Blue." She accepted Christ at an early age attending Piney Grove C.M.E. Church always putting God first in her life. During her childhood, Rose was instilled with the values of family and morality which would sustain her throughout life.
Rose honed education and attended Bruce Colored High School. Faith in God, Strength, Integrity and Generousity are a few attributes that defined Rose's contributions in life. Rose became Mother to Bobby Ray and Claudia Gaston while remaining in Calhoun City, MS. She later met and wed the love of her life, Curtis Blue Jr. on March 4, 1961. Rose and Curtis would later relocate to Chicago, IL in 1963 where they both remained throughout their lives. From this Union, God blessed four children Shirley, Gloria Jean, Curtis Edward and Doris Jean.
Rose worked at a Nursing home prior to being diagnosed with Congestive heart failure in 1969. She opened her heart and home daycaring numerous children from the community and later her own grandchildren. Her hobbies would include listening to her tunes, sewing which she inherited the skill from her Mother, cooking and baking delectable desserts and southern style home cooked meals.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Blue, Jr., sister, Mary Jean Gaston Wofford, brother, Clarence "Lake" Gaston, sister, Louis Gaston Herrod, brother, William Lee Gaston, parents Etta and Ed Gaston and grandson, Tristan "Rue" Coleman. Our family Matriarch and pillar to the North Lawndale Community, Rose Blue, peacefully transitioned into eternity on Friday, August 22, 2025. Rose leaves to cherish her memories to her sisters, Mae Wilson, Frances Russell, Nora Wallace and Dorothy Barnes and sister-in-law, Rose Guilty, children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, and neighboring friends.

Utilize my life lessons, wisdom and tools of guidance to be your support in the absence of my physical existence. This is not a goodbye but merely an I will see you later.
